I capture all of my images with a DSLR, images that are captured in the 2:3 ratio. When it comes to framing my images, I have to take into consideration cropping my image to fit standard frame sizes. When cropping an image to fit standard frame standard sizes, the ends of the image are lost.
One of the most popular frame size comes in the 4:5 ratio - 8"x10", 16"x20", 24"x30". Another frequently available size is 11"x14". This can pose a challenge as prints are captured in the 2:3 ratio resulting in a 8"x12", 12"x18", 16"x24", 20"x30" so to fit standard sizes the image must be cropped.
The illustrations here show how cropping to fit standard frame sizes can affect your print. Feel free to contact me with any questions about the print size you select and how cropping may affect the final print.
